From Fear to Freedom: My Journey Through Coaching
A personal story of transformation, risk, and everyday magic - by Amanda, Founder and Leadership Coach
Do you believe in magic?
I was experiencing a lot of fear.
I felt uncomfortable coaching and reaching out to people, and I remember feeling tense.
Deep down, I was afraid I couldn’t rely on myself. I didn’t know how to connect with people in a way that felt right for me.
You see, I wanted to explore the possibility of change in a coaching relationship with others.
But I didn’t feel I had permission to do that. I felt as if I were imposing something on them.
Still, I knew I wanted to help people be free and connect with what’s deep inside themselves - their own power and creativity.
Freedom, after all, goes hand in hand with love.
And I was ready to love myself and take risks.
Choosing Transformation
In that moment, I was crystal clear: I wanted one-on-one coaching with you.
I was ready to do the deeper work.
I knew you were direct and offered a kind of tough love.
I didn’t want to look for someone softer.
I knew that if things needed to be said, you’d say them, and you wouldn’t accept my excuses.
I also felt your real compassion and connected with your humor.
You weren’t the easy option, and I knew you wouldn’t let me off the hook.
I’d have to show up, and that’s what I wanted.
Returning to Myself
Very quickly, we began powerful work that took me deep within.
I started seeing possibilities and a magical world that I hadn’t known was available to me.
And I loved the version of myself that I discovered.
I returned to myself, and that was a hidden treasure.
It changed how I felt and shifted my priorities.
My priority had been business development, but you gave me a new way of being, and that’s where I needed to be.
Now, when I reach out to people and have those conversations, it’s truly me showing up.
And that is the most precious thing.
Believing in Love and Magic
Now, I believe in love and freedom.
There’s so much to be said for discovering yourself, which you really showed me how to do.
And now I believe I’m special.
We are all special.
This work woke me up to everyday magic - the kind that’s there all the time.
Understanding that was a gift.
Everyone should feel this.
The Importance of a Coach
Having a coach is so important for staying open.
Adrian, you are a huge part of my growth.
I now believe my potential is vast and limitless.
When you start growing, you feel more aligned because you gain a new level of awareness.
Then, you move to the next stage and rise through new levels of consciousness.
You also move toward your goals, and suddenly, new possibilities become available to you.
You start to see resources that you didn’t see before.
Living Boldly and Fully
That’s been my experience working with you.
I have more confidence in myself.
Now, I’m bold.
I’m finally doing things I put off for years.
For example, I contacted two recruitment agencies that aren’t the usual fit for me.
Before, I would have thought I didn’t measure up, or they wouldn’t take my call.
But they did, and they were good conversations.
Now, I knock on the doors of life.
I feel fulfilled.
Life is a good adventure.
Life feels easier now, and that’s a huge thing for me.
When we first started working together, life was hard and laborious.
A Wonderful World
But now, in the words of Louis Armstrong, “it’s a wonderful world,” and meeting you was fate.
